TWO MONTHS
BEFORE THE BAR EXAM |
|
What Should I Do Two Months
Before the Exam?
About
two months before the bar exam, you should finalize your trip itinerary.
Nearby hotels and flights book early due to the large number of bar exam
applicants, so be sure to take care of these details sooner rather than
later.
|
|
Ideally, if you are flying, you
want to give yourself time in case of delays or cancelled flights. Similarly,
you want to choose a comfortable hotel/lodging near the exam location. Within
walking distance is best. |
|
On the day of the exam, you will
have a lot on your mind, and not having to worry about driving directions,
parking, accidents, etc. will ease your burden. You also may want to refrain
from staying with a friend or roommate. You want your full concentration on the
exam, and may not be in the most jovial mood during those days. |
If you
are working, you will also want to plan your time off well in advance. The
Bar Exam is usually held on a Tuesday and Wednesday (sometimes Wednesday and
Thursday), so you will be taking significant days off. The last two weeks
before the exam are crucial for studying as many of the concepts finally
come together during that time. You may want to take the two weeks before
the exam off as well. In addition, about a month before the exam, you will
want to take care of any personal household affairs you may have. Pay your
bills early, have your car’s oil changed, etc. You want to take care of any
issues now so you can concentrate your full efforts on the bar exam.
|
During Bar Review, don’t go
crazy. It’s a marathon—not a sprint. The studying lasts all summer for the
July exam and at least 2.5 months for the February exam. You do not want to
study too much and burn yourself out too soon. |
|
|
The best approach, at least
for the first month or so, is to treat the exam like a 9 to 5 job. Make
sure you continue to have your nights and weekends to yourself to blow off
steam. Within about a month before the exam, you will want to start putting
in more time that will include intensive study on nights and weekends.
